Child and adolescent therapy

Most kids do not come in saying they need therapy. They come in with a behavior the adults are tired of, a grade that dropped, a stomach ache on school mornings, or a silence that showed up after something changed at home. The child is not the problem to be fixed. The child is part of a family that is under strain.

We see children, teens, and their parents by telehealth in Texas and Florida. Parents are part of the work. A child should not be the only one asked to change.

What parents usually call about

Worry that will not turn off. Anger at home. Conflict with a sibling or a parent. School stress. A divorce, a move, or a new partner in the house. Grief, including the loss of a pet. Behavior that was manageable until it was not.

What the session is like

Age-fit. Practical. The child is not put on trial, and the parent is not blamed for walking in. We look at what the behavior is doing for the family, then we change the piece that gives everyone a little more room.

How to start

Book a consultation. We will talk about who should be in the first session, and whether video is a fit for your child. Younger children often do better with a parent nearby and a quiet room.
