    Moving Forward Therapy and Beyond

Have you ever needed someone to talk with, help you with something, looking for advice, seeking comfort, or possible understanding? So, naturally you turn to your family, friends, love ones, only to get unsolicited advice, judgement, and lack of empathy? That is because, even though their intention is to help you, they are a biased party that believes they have your best interest at heart. However, what they believe is best for you usually does not align with what you think is best for you. They are doing what family, friends, and love ones do- for they are not Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) professionals.

    Our Mission

Therapy is not for the weak, but for the COURAGEOUS which ask for help! As an expert in science and art, you will be getting technical clinical proficiency in relationships with systemic knowledge into a variety of situations through non-bias, non judgement, empathic resolution without advice, guiding you to better insight and healing from your troubles.

At Moving Forward Therapy and Beyond, our belief is quality over quantity. In other words, you are not a just a number, with an agency trying to meet a quota. Instead, you are an individual, couple, family unit in which deserves our individual attention to give you the best quality care you deserve. Contact MFT Beyond for your free consultation today.

    Meet Our Therapists

Dr. Paula Boros received a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) and Master’s in Science (M.S.) in Family Therapy, and a Bachelor’s in Arts (B.A.) in Psychology.

She is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) in Texas (203704) and Florida (MT 3458), Texas and Florida licensure supervisor (LMFT-S), certified Hypnotherapist, American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) Approved Supervisor, AAMFT Clinical Fellow, and a U.S. combat veteran.

Have you ever experienced “Paula” therapy before? What is “Paula” therapy you might ask?

“Paula” therapy is where we find the right therapy style for you. My authentic approach gives clients the tools they need. I use a direct approach to get clients unique solutions. I pride myself on being authentically me and bringing out an authentic version of you. I do believe the stigma of mental health and therapy makes it appear as a weakness or reinforces “keep it in the family” secrets and situations. Yet through “Paula” therapy I provide space for clients to courageously seek help that is confidential, professional, and validating. This space is moving Forward Therapy and Beyond! This is the space to be authentically you!

What about “Paula” aka “Dr. Boros” supervision?

“Paula” therapy, “Dr. Boros” supervision creates a space where student interns and supervises for licensure learn to be authentically them while providing therapy to others. Dr. Boros has a wealth of knowledge around therapy and supervision that she wants to share with you. During this process, the supervisor and supervisee will work collaboratively as a team in which the supervisee is taking their next step in their professional and personal development. Throughout the process, Dr. Boros hopes to give the supervisee encouragement, support, guidance, advice, and a safety net as the supervisee grows and develops. Ensuring that the supervisee can become the best therapist they can be, this process of supervision will come in many forms, such as the supervisor will be reflective, allowing space for learning, while other times the supervisor will provide advice and directive. The supervision process will consist of various elements, such as, case consultation, self-of-the-therapist, therapist self-care, development of personhood, ethics, mental health laws, practice building, networking, navigating personal and professional/work conflicts, and improving diagnostics and paperwork. Dr. Boros is excited to work with you within the supervision process and be your supervisor. Please contact Dr. Boros today to schedule a time to talk about supervision. She is currently accepting Student interns in MFT for TX and FL, licensure MFTs for TX and FL, licensure MHCs in FL, and AAMFT Approved Supervisor (Candidates) Mentees.

    Hannah McKinnies, MS, LMFT-Associate

Supervised By Paula Boros, PhD, LMFT-S, AAMFT Approved Supervisor

Hannah understands that people have different experiences that shape who they become in their lives, while these experiences are the results of some choices made, many of them may be from patterns that have been passed down generationally that they may not have control over. Hannah understands that people may not know how to change their lives if they are functioning under the way they have always been taught; recognizing these patterns of behavior can take courage and that learning what is in their control and what is out of their control can help them see what they want to be different.

Hannah wants to work with clients an give them “tools” for their toolbox. Hannah believes that patterns of behavior are learned and that behavior is a form of communication. She works with clients on topics that will improve how they interact in their relationships. Hannah works with individuals, couples, and families.

Hannah’s goal is for clients who speak to her feel heard and that they have someone who is willing to meet them where they are in that moment. Hannah works from a systemic therapist point of view, and believes that the relationships have an impact on their current functioning and symptoms.

“Life is like the ocean. It can be calm or still, and rough or rigid. But in the end, it is always beautiful.” -Unknown

Are you struggling to navigate your ocean, or looking to change course? You have already taken a big first step in navigating toward calmer seas by looking for assistance in your journey. We can work together to help navigate your ocean in a calm, safe, non-judgmental environment of your choosing.

Working from a systemic standpoint we can work with whomever you would like to have in our sessions. You can choose the environment you wish to have your session through either teletherapy, or we can do walk-and-talk therapy. What’s walk-and-talk therapy? Walk-and-Talk Therapy is based on mindfulness and body awareness that helps you to relax, prevent repetitive negative thoughts, release tension, breathe deeply, receive new insight, and clear your mind as you process experiences differently. It is an option to have sessions outside instead of in an office setting we would meet at any place such as a park, coffee shop, walking trails, or any other community area. During our time together we will work as a team that fits your unique needs to accomplish your goals.

As your therapist, I strive to make sure you are heard and respected, when you are ready go ahead and send me an email or give me a call to work together towards calmer seas.

    Meet Our Student Interns

As the need for mental health services increases, students are rising to the challenge to become mental health providers. In obtaining their mental health master’s degrees, these students require hands-on experience within the field to practice their specialty. Student Interns at Moving Forward Therapy and Beyond are working toward completing their master’s degree in the mental health field. Overall, you receive some additional benefits by going with a Student Intern.

    • Student Interns will be under direct supervision from Moving Forward Therapy and Beyond and their faculty supervision within their school.
    • Additionally, they will be receiving input from others within the field, including clinicians, students, faculty, etc.
    • You are helping them gain real-world clinical experience in their profession to fill the mental health provider shortage.
    • Often, they will have smaller caseloads to handle, allowing for more individualized care.
    • As they are gaining experience and don’t have years of practice, they are willing to ask questions and use various resources at their disposal.
    • They will be utilizing the latest research and evidence-based practices in the field.
    • As they have completed most of their schoolwork, they are filled with energy and enthusiasm to meet you and provide you with therapy services.
    • Finally, as they are Student Interns, you will receive a reduction in service fees. As these Student Interns also need examples to demonstrate their clinical skills, by electing to be audio/video recorded, you will receive an additional discount towards your therapy services.
    • Moving Forward Therapy and Beyond is currently accepting Student Interns for MFT in FL and TX via telehealth.” also, “Please check back later for our Student Interns. In the meantime, check our current therapists while you wait.
